The Carnegie Art Center (CAC) will host the 2024 Members Show on view July 6-26. This exhibition features over 90 pieces of artwork in various mediums and subject matter that highlight the creativity and talent of our artist members. The public is invited to attend the free Opening Reception on Wednesday, July 10, 6PM-8PM. Prizes will be announced at this time. Additional viewing is available during regular gallery hours, Wednesday-Thursday 6PM-8PM, and Friday-Saturday 12PM-4PM. Gallery hours are free and open to the public.

Judge: Samantha Domagala

Samantha Domagala is a Kenmore Based painter and illustrated under the business name, The Roaming Buffalo Art. Her focus is to capture the beauty of local architecture, highlighting some of the most well-known, and niche areas of Western New York. Her primary medium is watercolor, while she uses gouache, ink and acrylic to highlight, bring out bold lines for captivating pieces.

Samantha’s artwork and sense of community has led to multiple collaborations such as Buffalo Dapper Paws, Interiors of WNY, Buffalo Printing and Design, City Threads. Her business efforts has developed to multiple product lines that have expanded outside of the traditional paint and paper.

Samantha is also motivated by giving back to WNY through various projects, especially during times of tragedy. Her artwork featuring “Chuck, The Bubble Man”, “The Old Pink”, and “Art Dog” illustrations has helped raise funds for local individuals and funds familiar to the community.

Samantha has longterm goals to develop The Roaming Buffalo Art to become more acquainted with local non profits, immersing herself in the world of fine art and making herself a staple of the community.

The Carnegie Art Center, located in North Tonawanda, is happy to announce the return of our Summer Art Camp, August 1 and 2, 2024, geared towards children ages 8-12 years old. The Children’s Summer Art Camp offers children the opportunity to explore and engage in various interactive art and movement experiences.  This year’s theme, Mindfulness: Creating Tools for Mindfulness by Encouraging Creativity and Reflection, will offer a number of opportunities for children to connect the creative links between and music, nature, and art.

Classes will be taught by local instructors and also include opportunity for mindfulness exercises. Two-hour classes will take place beginning at 10AM-12PM, followed by a lunch break 12-12:30PM (children should bring their own lunches); and with a second class taking place 12:30-2:30PM. The day will end by 3:00PM. Classes are $25 each or a special rate of $45 for the day (save $5 with this option). All supplies will be provided.

The CAC Presents: Plein Air on the Erie Canal

Join us for an all day Plein Air event along the Erie Canal! The CAC will be the host site for artist sign in and viewing party. Artists are invited to explore the Erie Canal path 2 blocks away. Light refreshments included in ticket price. 9AM-4PM schedule includes artist sign in, painting time along the Erie Canal, and viewing party.

Live on the Lawn features a different local band every month on the Carnegie Art Center’s spacious lawn June-September. Guests are invited to bring chairs, blankets, snacks, and a friend! The concerts will be held outdoors, on our lawn 6PM-8PM. There are limited chairs and small tables available on a first come, first serve basis. Please bring a chair/blanket. Picnic spreads are welcome.

In the event of inclement weather, performances will be moved indoors to the Rotunda Gallery. Free parking available on-site and on-street. Accessible restrooms available in the Carnegie Art Center.

Yoga on the Lawn occurs every Wednesday evening! An all levels gentle yoga practice focusing on traditional hatha poses and breath work to balance and engage the mind body and spirit with Erin from Rooted Oak Yoga. Individual class pass $12 or buy a July monthly pass for $50. Tickets available presale or at the beginning of each class.

Class meets weekly on Wednesday nights 6PM-7:00PM. In the event of inclement weather, classes will be held indoors. Please bring your own mat and/or props if desired. Tickets available HERE

Join our Street Team!

Street Team members will be eligible for one pair of tickets to each event they volunteer to promote. The Carnegie Art Center is a 501c3 organization and is also able to provide community service hours for this activity.

Team members will be responsible for distributing promotional materials (flyers/posters/postcards) to local businesses, meeting places, and public billboards throughout Western New York. This role is a volunteer, part-time position and will be scheduled around the CAC’s event schedule.

Street Team members can expect to promote several times a year with higher priority on summer programming and Art Off the Wall (December).
